2009 Syrah, CR -- 72 Cases Produced
That's right, "CR" stands for Cote-Rotie.
Michael Larner had the brilliant idea of doing a field blend of 5% Viognier with our Syrah. You would not think that 5% would make a difference, but it does. The Viognier softens the tannins, elaborates the fruit, and makes a significant impression.
The wine is soft, fruit forward and ready to drink. It has notes of red fruit, strawberry and raspberry with floral overtones. There is plenty of depth and a long, clean finish.

"I love this wine! There was a frost late in the season and the yield
was about half of what was expected. This has resulted in a super
concentrated wine. I remember being there at the harvest, watching
Christine Larner of Larner Vineyard, sort through the freshly picked grapes by hand,
throwing out those she deemed unworthy. She was a genius as it turned out
to be amazing! The "mouthfeel" is substantial. You imagine tasting
little particles of fruit and flavor such as stonefruit (peaches,
apricots) as well as lots of dark berries.
It has a very long clean finish." -Richard Lander
